This historical event will be re-enacted during the day, complete with the landing of Lt Flinders on (now) Norfolk Beach and the presence of local people in period costume. Tue 12 Oct	Gowinta Strawberries Gowinta Farms is the Sunshine Coast's largest strawberry producer with 150 acres of strawberries that supply major supermarket chains throughout Australia and New Zealand. Over 2 million pineapple plants produce an abundance of fruit for Golden Circle and the fresh fruit market. Their greenhouses produce cucumbers and vine ripened tomatoes all year round and there's over 10,000 lychee trees. Tue 19 Oct	South Burnett Energy Tour The newly opened South Burnett Energy Centre reflects the past, the people and the energy technology that developed the region and continues to mould our future. The visually exciting displays are located in a building formerly owned by Tarong Coal and incorporate a number of timelines and interactive displays as well as the original engines that supplied energy to Nanango for the first time in 1933. St Helena Island

 "In the heart of Moreton Bay there lies an Isle, Whose ruined walls tell a tale of suffering and woe, For these walls were once cells and this island a prison."

Today we cross the bay, heading back in time, where we'll witness some of the black chapters from Australia's colonial history brought to life on this unique tour.

St Helena Island is Queensland's most historic island. This beautiful National Park is located four kilometres from the mouth of the Brisbane River and became Queensland's first jail in 1867. The Island is rich in Australian history and has a fascinating and colourful past.

We'll cruise Moreton Bay on the Cat O'Nine Tails vessel to the former penal settlement where a performer from St Helena's Theatre Troupe will accompany us on a history adventure. From the Aboriginal beginnings to the 19th Century prison we'll discover the sad (but often times funny) stories of the past. Afterwards we can sit back, relax and reflect on the return journey back across Moreton Bay to the 21st Century.

Note: Today involves some walking so be sure to wear comfortable shoes.

Careflight Excursion

CareFlight Rescue (CFR) is Australia’s largest air medical retrieval operation, carrying out more than 3000 domestic and international rescues each year.

Learn more about the life-saving work of the Careflight crews with a first hand glimpse at the CareFlight Rescue's service on a visit to a CareFlight hangar.

We'll have a tour of the hangar, with an opportunity to see the medical rescue helicopters close-up and to meet the crew on duty who will speak about their respective roles and duties.

The Gold Coast travel club will visit the Toowoomba Careflight Centre, while the Toowoomba travel club will visit the Gold Coast Careflight Centre at Coolangatta.

St Patrick's Day on the Valley Rattler

Today we travel to Gympie for  a steam train ride from the historic Gympie Railway Station.

Condamine Gorge 4WD Tour
We're off to Queen Mary Falls in Kilarney, where the adventure really begins when we descend along the track that follows the Condamine River.The Condamine River is the uppermost reaches of one of the Murray/Darling. The scenic splendour along the way is provided by Queensland's Scenic Rim, an ancient area of volcanic creation and part of the 18,400ha Main Range National Park. The terrain is mainly gravel roads and clay tracks with some creek crossings.

Noosa ‘Riverlight’ Cruise

Newstead House Garden Party

The push for separation from New South Wales began in earnest in the early 1850s. On 10 July 1859, the steamer Clarence arrived in the Port of Brisbane with a large banner lining the side of its hull which proclaimed 'SEPARATION'. It brought the news that Queen Victoria had signed the Letters Patent creating the new colony of Queensland on 6 June 1859.

To celebrate Queensland 150th,  this time in history will be re-created with a community garden party at historic Newstead House. Come along on this journey back in time. Activities include a pageant of fashion, historical vignettes, a free concert, historical re-enactments and the opening of new displays within Newstead House.

Admission is free to the event and to Newstead House, however there will be a charge for teas, craft, etc. Make the whole day enjoyable by travelling to the event on a Stonestreets Coach.
